(Providing Enhanced Activities for Kids)
We are excited to announce that our PEAK fitness club will be running at Orchard this year for fourth and fifth graders.
Focus:
Our focus for PEAK is to provide the community, currently starting with children in our schools, the opportunity to participate in activities to keep them physically active. Our current mission is to offer students in our schools a program where they feel safe and comfortable during various exercises and/or sports. The idea of PEAK began as a "movement" to help our children overcome the barriers that keep them from being physically active. (Time, Money, Comfort Levels, Accessibility) Our program is free, located at the child's home school, and is run in a positive environment where all levels of fitness can be successful. As a non-profit organization, PEAK is excited to offer this opportunity for our students throughout the year.
Basic Description:
Before or after-school fitness clubs to give students a fun, safe place to improve their cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, and endurance. These clubs also focus on teamwork, cooperation, self-discipline, and a fun way for students to interact outside of school hours. Our program is part of a new health awareness movement known as PEAK (Providing Enhanced Activities for Kids). Students will now be given the chance not only to participate in fun fitness activities after school but in free sports programs as well. This is not to take away from any exciting sports or extracurricular activities your student(s) may already be in as we encourage them to continue those as they provide great opportunities for athletics and character building in many ways. PEAK sports will focus more on learning the basic skills of each game, having fun, staying active, and promoting sportsmanship.
